Zinen Technologies' SACCO Management System is built for Kenyan deposit-taking and non-withdrawable-deposit SACCOs operating under the Sacco Societies Act and SASRA. It replaces the registers and spreadsheets many SACCOs still rely on with one structured platform covering members, shares, savings, loans and dividends.
Members are registered with full KYC (national ID, KRA PIN, nominees, next of kin, employer and branch), moving through an application-to-admission process with dormancy, suspension and a proper 60-day exit notice and settlement where required. Every member's live net worth — shares plus deposits plus savings minus loans — is calculated automatically, with an automatic Platinum/Gold/Silver/Bronze ranking the SACCO can use for loan limits or recognition.
Loans go through a full appraisal checklist (deposit multiples, the one-third basic-pay rule, CRB and arrears checks), guarantor exposure tracking, committee and board approval, and SASRA-required classification and provisioning — with repayments collected via M-Pesa Daraja, bank transfer or employer check-off and a smart receipt that auto-splits one payment across entrance fees, loan arrears, contributions and deposits in the correct order.
SACCO Management System gives Kenyan savings and credit cooperatives one structured platform for members, shares, savings, loans and dividends, built around the Sacco Societies Act and SASRA classification requirements, in place of registers and spreadsheets.
The modules below are based on the underlying Zinen system design and show how the solution can be organized for day-to-day operations.
Register members with national ID, KRA PIN, nominees, next of kin, employer and branch, through application, admission, dormancy, suspension and a proper 60-day exit notice and settlement.
Maintain a share capital register with certificates and transfers, calculate each member's live net worth (shares plus deposits plus savings minus loans) and rank members automatically into Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze tiers.
Manage back-office (BOSA) deposits, front-office (FOSA) savings, fixed deposits and holiday or junior accounts, with withdrawal approvals, internal transfers and a full member ledger and statement.
Accept one payment and have it auto-split in the correct order — entrance fee, then loan arrears, then monthly contributions, then deposits — across cash, M-Pesa paybill, bank transfer and employer check-off batches.
Run a loan appraisal checklist (deposit multiples, the one-third basic-pay rule, CRB and arrears checks), track guarantor exposure and collateral, and route approvals through committee and board sign-off before disbursement.
Configure reducing-balance or flat-rate loan products with fees and insurance, generate repayment schedules and penalties, and classify and provision loans per SASRA requirements, with guarantor recovery, CRB listing and write-off support.
Collect loan repayments and savings via M-Pesa Daraja C2B and STK push, bank transfer, or employer payroll check-off batches, disbursed to FOSA or M-Pesa on approval.
Run a pooled emergency or benevolent fund with bereavement, medical and disaster benefits, subject to configurable waiting periods.
Calculate weighted interest on deposits and dividends on shares with 5% withholding tax, route through AGM approval, and auto-credit member accounts once approved.
Record AGM and board/committee meetings with agenda, minutes, resolutions and attendance, alongside an automatic activity log of every transaction on the SACCO.
Generate the Annual SACCO Report and Action Plan, member and loan statements, offer letters, receipts, dividend registers and check-off schedules for SASRA, auditors and members.
Run teller till sessions with cash-count reconciliation, standing orders, bulk SMS campaigns, loan rescheduling, KYC document storage, referrals, member ID cards and a complaints register.
View live KPIs, charts, a member ranking leaderboard, an approvals queue, arrears and portfolio insights on a clickable dashboard.
Offer a public SACCO site with savings/loan products, an online membership application with KYC uploads, AGM notices and downloadable forms, plus a member portal for balances, loans, guarantees, statements and M-Pesa STK applications.
Use an installable mobile app that keeps working offline after first setup — searching members, viewing net worth and ranking, recording collections and registering members or loan applications — syncing automatically once back online.

The core SACCO engine — members, shares, net worth ranking, BOSA/FOSA savings, loans, dividends and the member portal — is built to serve any cooperative savings society. SASRA-specific loan classification and provisioning is a Kenyan regulatory module; for a SACCO or cooperative in Uganda, Tanzania or Rwanda, Zinen configures the equivalent regulatory reporting for that country's cooperative regulator.
