Growth sampling and mortality by cause
Zinen Technologies' Fish Farming Management System is built for aquaculture businesses running earthen, lined or concrete ponds, lake cages, RAS tanks, hapas or raceways — from a few family ponds to a commercial farm with its own hatchery. It replaces the notebook-and-memory approach most farms use for stocking, feeding and mortality with one structured production record.
Each production batch tracks live fish count from stocking through to harvest (stocked minus dead minus harvested minus transferred), average weight, biomass, survival rate, average daily gain, feed conversion ratio and growth against a species growth plan, giving a real production cost per kilogram rather than an estimate. Water quality — dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite and more — is checked against each species' safe limits with an automatic status and recommended action.
For farms running their own hatchery, broodstock, spawning, larvae and fingerling stages are tracked through to hatch rate, nursery survival and cost per fingerling, whether fingerlings are stocked into the farm's own ponds or sold to other farmers. Nile tilapia, African catfish, carp and trout are all supported, with Kenya's KeFS licensing and M-Pesa payments in mind.
Fish Farming Management System gives Kenyan aquaculture businesses one structured record of ponds, cages, tanks and hatchery production in place of scattered notebooks, with real feed conversion, water-quality monitoring and harvest traceability built in.
The modules below are based on the underlying Zinen system design and show how the solution can be organized for day-to-day operations.
Record earthen, lined and concrete ponds, tanks, cages, RAS, hapas and raceways with automatic area, volume and carrying-capacity calculations, stocking density, fallow periods and repairs.
Track live fish count (stocked minus dead minus harvested minus transferred), average weight, biomass, survival rate, ADG, SGR and feed conversion ratio against a species growth plan, with an expected harvest date and production cost per kg.
Record periodic growth sampling with a condition factor and growth-versus-plan comparison, and mortality logged by cause with biomass and value lost.
Move fish between units, split batches and grade by size, with cost carried across correctly between the resulting batches.
Use feeding tables by species (percentage of body weight, meals per day, pellet size by fish size) to generate a recommended daily ration per batch and a single daily feeding sheet for the whole farm.
Track feed purchases, stock counts, days-of-stock remaining and automatic re-order alerts, with feed costed on a weighted-average basis.
Record dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite, Secchi disc and other readings against each species' safe limits, with an automatic status, explanation and recommended action, and a single farm-wide water-testing round.
Maintain a disease and predator library with treatment records and withdrawal periods that automatically block harvesting until the hold period has passed.
Track broodstock rest periods, spawning, larvae and fingerling stages through to hatch rate, nursery survival, sex reversal and cost per fingerling, whether fingerlings are stocked on-farm or sold to other farmers.
Record partial and final harvests with size grades, and process catch into fillets, smoked or dried fish with yield and cost per batch, tracking sold, processed and spoilt balances on every lot.
Invoice fresh fish (per kg or per piece), fingerlings and processed products with one-click invoices, and record expenses by site or batch alongside vendor bills for a true profit-and-loss picture.
Get automatic tasks for sampling, water tests, critical readings, mortality spikes, harvest-ready batches, overstocking, treatments, feed re-orders, pond preparation, hatchery steps, equipment service and licence renewals.
See a farm map, batch performance, growth curves, feed store status, water quality, mortality and hatchery pipeline in one dashboard, with an action centre and an overall farm health score.
Generate a batch production report, a harvest traceability certificate and a profit-and-loss report for buyers, cooperatives or your own records.
Zinen Technologies is based at Bazaar Plaza, Moi Avenue, Nairobi. Every Fish Farming Management System deployment is configured, tested and supported by a local team who understands how businesses in Kenya operate — including M-Pesa payments and local compliance requirements.

Yes. Every batch rolls up feed, labour and other costs against the fish produced to give a genuine FCR and cost per kilogram, not an estimate.
Yes. Readings such as dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, ammonia and nitrite are checked against each species' safe limits, with an automatic status and recommended action.
Yes. Broodstock, spawning, larvae and fingerling production are tracked separately, with fingerlings either stocked into the farm's own ponds or sold to other farmers.
Yes. Ponds, tanks, lake cages, RAS systems, hapas and raceways are all supported as culture units.
Yes. Species feeding tables and growth plans are configured per species, covering Nile tilapia, African catfish, carp, trout and others.
Pricing depends on the number of ponds or cages, whether a hatchery module is needed, and reporting and licensing requirements. Zinen scopes this with you before quoting.
Yes. It is built with Kenya's KeFS licensing requirements and M-Pesa payments in mind, while remaining usable by aquaculture businesses anywhere.
